Igår eftermiddag sände den amerikanska lokal-TV-kanalen KRQE, som täcker Albuquerque i New Mexico, ett nyhetsinslag om att den tecknade björnen Pedobear dykt upp på klistermärken runtom i halvmiljonstaden och att den lokala polismyndigheten varnar föräldrar och ber dem hålla ögonen öppna om de ser klistermärkena. Inslaget kompletterades med en nyhetsartikel på TV-kanalens hemsida, där samma varning underströks:
”There are people out there after children, and they are using this cute cuddly bear as their insignia,” said Lynn Southard with the State Attorney General’s Office. She says the bear is a national symbol for pedophile. ”The bear is cute, but that is what the pedophiles are using to identify each other,” explained Southard. (…) Law enforcement says if you see the Pedobear image, use caution with whatever situation you’re in or the people involved.
